Wies’n aka Oktoberfest must-haves

Today the shenanigans in Munich have started – that is the Oktoberfest!!! Around 6 million people are expected to come to the Oktoberfest which ends on the 3rd October. It’s soooo much fun, but you have to like beer. Apparently 3 million litres of beer are consumed during this time!

Here are the must-haves:

Dirndl

no matter whether you are 60, 16 or only 6 years old - everyone wears a Dirndl

push up bra - a MUST when wearing a Dirndl

a "Edelweiss" necklace to show off them nice crystals :-)

the boys wear Lederhosen

...mostly combined with a checked shirt

'Haferl' shoes and "Wadenwärmer" for the real Bavarians

A 'Mass Bier' - a litre of beer - stronger and tastier than anything you have tasted before

a huge Brez'n

a gingerbread heart - Wiesnherz. Make sure you get given one from your Wiesn flirt

last but not least a little hand bag to carry your purse, mobile and lipgloss

what a bliss!

the wedding dress from approx 1971

I was skyping with my lovely friend from Vienna just now. Today while she was clearing out the her aunt’s house she found the most amazing suitcase and box from her aunt. She immediately had to show me her findings.
Here are a few snap shots I made from skype.

In the suitcase was the aunt’s wedding dress. It had been in there for 40 years! It’s from the early 70s and is just stunning! Look at those sleeves! The long veil with embroidered flowers!

In the box was the aunt's “confirmation dress” which must be even older. It’s a light minty green and is so now with the Peter Pan collar.

Don’t you think that is an amazing finding?

Have a look at the next two images from the film "the graduate". almost alike!

Charlie's

Charlie is my new favourite Vietnamese restaurant! Geeez it was so yummy! It’s just across Wittelsbacher bridge in Munich and definitely worth a visit (if you live in Munich).

All ingredients are fresh which makes the place smell like a little herb garden! The interior is simple yet edgy (refurb of an old german "wirtshaus") with bright colours and funky interior detailing.

hello autumn shoes!!!

...goodbye summer!

Who hasn’t got a weakness for shoes??? Well, I admit it – I love shoes!

Shoes aren’t as mean as other clothing is, as your size remains your size, no matter if you had a few too many muffins or late night pizzas! :-)

It’s time to hit the bricks & mortar and online shops to grab a pair of brand new autumn heels / flats!

Have a look at these gorgeous foot embellishments from solestruck.

Burning Man impressions

A friend of mine from London came by yesterday and told me that one of our friends was at the Burning Man festival in Nevada.
It's quite something as far as I can tell from stories I have heard, reading about it and looking at some pictures! Have a look a the pictures :)

In love with Whistles

Once again Whistles ticks all the boxes.

Ultra flattering jeans with cute blouse
Love love love the pleats and the dark berry shades

MUSTARD -  have a look at one of my older blog entries

on my wishlist

I just love Whistles' fashion – it’s so wearable for work and at the same time you're still able to look stylish and on trend.  What do you think?
I am a bit gutted about the relatively high price points but I suppose this makes it more unique and aspiring…

As I am a little cockney (east London) rhyming slang freak I thought I’d let you know – in case you don’t – that the name ‘Whistles’ derives from the rhyming slang ‘whistle and flute’ which stands for ‘suit’.  And that’s how Whistles started off!

Aren’t those black patent pointy court shoes stunning?!?! I can see them teamed up in soooo many ways!

Mad Men collection

Banana Republic has launched a MAD MEN inspired collection online designed by costume designer Janie Bryant. Also the model presenting the new limited edition wears makeup and hair inspired by the era of the 60s.

You can find silky pussy bow blouses, figure flattering dresses / skirts and leopard print accessories. I definitely recommend to check out their website – I’m in love with the silhouettes.

and what do you think?

can't believe we are having internet problems again at home...
