Pleated skirts

Pleated skirts are another summer essential. Or should I rather say even an epidemic amongst us fashion lovers J Here are 3 of my favourite looks:

a fashion a city a style

the carrie skirt - Whistles

Topshop

The 1st picture I got from ‘Lady H’s blog’ (click here) A fashion a city a style. Love her style!
The 2nd picture is ‘the Carrie’ skirt from Whistles (£110) which was so popular not only in the UK but all over the place. The entire Fashion pack at London Fashion Week was apparently wearing it. During my London student days I used to work in the Whistles store at Spitalfields in East London. At that time Jane Shepherdson had only joined Whistles and gave it this fantastic new look! I still have some of the dresses from Jane’s first collections at Whistles and still love them to bits!
Last but not least is of course a picture of a Topshop lass in a pleated skirt (£60). I needn’t say that it has to belong amongst the top 3 high street looks as well.

Bild ist von „Lady H’s“ Blog (hier klicken) „A fashion a city a style“.

I got these ultra cool sandals in Italy at Duedimé in a tiny town in Umbria. Duedimé means as much as “two of me” in Italian, referring back to the pair of shoes.
I just had to have those sandals as they tick all the boxes when it comes to the summer essential shoes:
-          Snake skin look
-          Flat (!!!!) – it’s so important that they are comfy. Especially if it’s hot outside.
-          High tops
-          Leather – i.e. no sweaty feet J
-          And ooooh sooooo comfortable (again!)
This pic was taken at the Isar.
Oh, and the nail varnish is from Brazil – I got it from a friend. It doesn’t really come out on the pic but the colour is neon fluorescent and just GREAT!

Tollwood Festival

The Tollwood Festival is one of my favourite summer events in Munich. It’s hidden away in Munich’s green Olympia Park.
The philosophy of the environmentally friendly festival is all about different cultures and different arts. You can stroll around the stalls which offer beautiful hand crafted jewellery, paintings, photography, pottery, hippiesque fashion and the yummiest dishes from around the whole world. But it doesn’t stop just there. It’s a fantastic place to hang out as the majority of stages on the festival offer free entertainment – be it a music, theatre or comedy stage.
I also spotted quite a few extremely stylish lads and lasses but as I am still quite new to my own blog I was too shy this time to ask them for a picture.... J

Streetstyle - Isar

Here is a picture of a girl who was walking along the Isar as well. Her laid back Sunday look but still chic style grabbed my attention. The bright blue skirt which is totally this season’s colour blocking trend combined with the subtle colours of her drapey top look great. The espadrille sandals round off the look perfectly and add a further summer 2011 highlight to the look.

Walk along the Isar

Finally a sunny day again. A friend and I headed to the river Isar for a walk and chat. Beforehand we grabbed a take away iced coffee to keep us nice and cool. Then we walked along the Isar around the Deutsches Museum area. It’s a beautiful green spot in the middle of the city.
As always I thought it was very entertaining to watch all kinds of different people sunbathing on the rather uncomfortable pebbles. There are families with their playing kids, snogging couples, girls like us gossiping, dogs on their walkies etc. But the weirdest thing for a non-Munich person might be the nudists. Yes, you heard right there. In Munich, in the middle of the centre along certain areas on the river bank you can be totally NAKED! You would assume that these “naked people” would like to stay amongst other likeminded - i.e. naked - people. But this assumption is quite wrong. They mingle between dressed and half-dressed people and move around freely. To someone from Munich it’s totally normal but for all other nationalities or even other places from Germany it’s quite something!

Alive and kicking

My day so far was pretty healthy and fit. I finally managed to force my way to the gym after a long night’s sleep and several weeks of paying sufficient money and not going. So it was about time! After a hard workout I treated myself with my new Sothys’ relaxing body scrub which smells heavenly of cherry blossom and lotus.

My health conscious start made me go and visit my favourite healthy fast food chain again. Dean & David. There are several around Munich and their healthy and yummy food is spreading all over Germany now as well! They make loads of fresh salads and I had a summer special salad with chicken, strawberries, melon and sunflower seeds which was prepared by a rather hot guy J   ....here’s the salad, unfortunately not the guy:

As I was cycling about in Munich I thought I’ll indulge in some more goodness and therefore stopped at Copacabana, in a side street from Munich’s shopping street Sendlingerstrasse. It’s a really friendly cafe owned by a Brazilian couple offering – of course – Brazilian food and drinks. Here I drank an Acai juice which really energised me. This Brazilian berry is supposed to be the world’s number 1 superfood and antioxidant even though the colour of the drink is rather ... different.

Well guys, I shall be off now to enjoy my Saturday evening with a not quite as healthy drink – a glass of wine together with some friends.

Dean and David.

Sunshine in a Bottle

Here is a little bottle of sunshine to brighten up the day. Not some pills or anything along the lines, but Yves Saint Laurent’s Summer Look 2011 shimmering yellow nail polish. I usually wouldn’t spend that much on a nail varnish (~ 22 Euros from Douglas). But never mind, it’s the summer trend colour number one and makes me happy every time I look at my hands and finally might bring on summer weather and hot temperatures!

Elbow at Southside

I thought I’d post you a link of Elbow – an English alternative rock band - I really think are great. They are from Manchester and have been around for a while already. The singer Guy Garvey entertained the whole crowd at the Southside Festival with his funny charm and even made the sun come out during this great song ‘On a day like this’ (click on link below)

Rainy day

I’m not quite sure yet what this blog will be about but I know I want something little of my own.

Today is the most horrid day ever. Cold and rain - even though we supposed to have summer... At least compared to last weekend’s Southside Festival in southwest Germany I can sit inside! J
Here is a picture of the muddy sight:
And these two girls show real style even though the weather was wet, rainy and just awful. Only for this little instant the sun came out so don’t think we had a dry weekend! ...the people at Glastonbury Festival won’t have a very dry time either check out The Guardian’s live blog http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/jun/23/glastonbury-2011-live-thursday
